Andre Rieu or Andre Leon Marie Nicolas Rieu is a Dutch violinist, conductor, and also a composer known for his creation of waltz playing Johann Strauss Orchestra. He is born on the 1st of October, 1949 in Maastricht in Holland. He has the same name of his father and was the conductor of Maastricht Symphony Orchestra. At the age of five, he started to learn playing the violin not knowing that this will be the reason why he will be known worldwide and be like is father as a conductor. The talent runs in his veins so it is not possible that he acquired it from his father and at a very young age he had been fascinated with orchestra, just an example of like father like son.
Andre Rieu, earned his degree “ Premier Prix” from the Brussels Royal Conservatory. He decided to pursue the waltz form when he had seen the audience reaction on his performance at the university where he performed the Silver and Gold by Franz Lehar. He also performed as a violinist with the Limburg Symphony Orchestra. In the year 1987, he created the Johann Strauss Orchestra under his own production company. His stage performances had been associated with the revival of the waltz music category. He plays a 1667 Stradivarius violin.
Johann Strauss Orchestra began in the year 1987 and started with 12 members only but now the orchestra now performs from between forty to fifty musicians that just go to show how well they influence people to follow their craft and reach their dreams. Andre Rieu was known as the waltz King since they focused on the interest in waltz music by the time they toured Europe. The Orchestra had performances in Europe, North America and Japan. They also won a number of awards that includes two World Music Awards wherein their recordings have gone gold to platinum worldwide. Just a proof what a wonderful and talented Orchestra he has.
